Navarra en 1812 y la Constitución gaditana.

Abstract

La guerra de la Independencia precipitó la caída del Antiguo Régimen en Navarra, al tiempo que las instituciones políticas de su reino quedaron vacías de contenido y fueron cambiadas por otras. La razón del cambio fueron las nuevas ideas liberales que se iban vislumbrando desde los comienzos del siglo XIX y que cristalizaron en la Constitución gaditana de 1812. También el centralismo de los Borbones, las ideas ilustradas de Godoy y los gobiernos napoleónicos facilitaron la quiebra del reino de Navarra. El año 1812 será crucial para comprender dicha transformación, siendo ese mismo año un punto de inflexión en la guerra de la Independencia, ya que comenzará el declive de los franceses en Navarra.

The Independence War forced the fall of the Ancient Regime in Navarre, while the political institutions of the Kingdom became obsolete and were changed by others. The reason why the change took place was the new liberal ideas, which were in sight since the beginning of the XIX th century and were carried out in the Cadiz Constitution of 1812. As well, the centralism of the Bourbons Kingdom, the illustrated ideas of Godoy and Napoleonic Governments allowed the collapse of the Kingdom of Navarre. The year 1812 is crucial to understand this transformation, being the same year an inflection point in the Independence War, due to the beginning of the decline of the French in Navarre.
