The bioinformatics analysis described in this paper allowed us to establish the type and the
number of the telomere repeat unit in the basidiomycetes analyzed, to suggest the putative
linkage groups in fungi where linkage maps are not available, to uncover misassembled
telomere regions, and to reveal the preference for some gene models to be located at the
