In this Master’s Thesis study, the effects that have emerged in two forests of the Navarre
Pyrenees have been studied due to the tampering of the input of nutrients into the soil.
Those forests are located near to the villages of Aspurz, Navascués and Garde, where
we find two different main species of pine (Pinus sylvestris) and beech (Fagus sylvatica).
At the forests in Aspurz there are areas of pure pine and mixed canopy, at Navascués
pure beech and pure pine in Garde.
The beginning of the study in these plots dates back to 1999, with different forestry
studies since then in nine plots where forest management was studied with the
application of different percentages of basal area removal as treatments, until 2017,
when the last and current project in which this dissertation was carried out was
established. [--]
