Gorriti, leyes para el juego y el baile en la plaza

Abstract

Recoge este artículo el contenido de un cuaderno encontrado en Gorriti (valle de Larraun). El autor fue el cura del pueblo, quien lo firma, junto al alcalde y varios concejales. En él se recopila la peculiar normativa del uso del frontón y del juego de la pelota en el lugar de Gorriti. El texto, coetáneo con la construcción del nuevo frontón, tiene una antigüedad de 150 años, y al parecer, las disputas entre bailarines y jugadores eran constantes, ya que ambos querían hacer uso de la plaza. Por otra parte, como documento etnográfico resulta muy interesante, ya que nos ofrece un retrato de la sociedad de la época

In this article we compile the content of a notebook that we have found in Gorriti (Larraun, in the valley of Navarre). The village priest wrote it, and he signs it with the mayor and councilors. This notebook collects the especial normative of the court use of the game of the Basque ball in Gorriti. The test dates from 150 years ago, just when the court was built, and it seems that the disputes between dancers and ball players were very common, because both parts wanted to use the place. Furthermore, it is very interesting as an ethnographic document, because it portrays the society of its time
