Water is one of the main sources of energy in Naturin Viscofan GmbH. The
amount and quality of used water, which currently reaches one million cubic meters per
year, is registered with counters. There are approximately 100 of these devices around
the whole factory. About 70% of them are not connected to the automatic monitoring
system making it difficult to detect malfunctioning. This project aimed to find a viable
option for the company to connect every water meter to the data analysis system. After
an exhaustive analysis of the actual situation and a review of different connection
options, several suppliers were required to present their solutions. A comparative
among their different proposals was done, and a recommendation for Naturin’s water
meters connection was made. This recommendation was based on a combined solution
of both, wired and wireless M-Bus. [--]
