This technique has already used in previous works, and it has the advantage that it allows to control the construction of nanosized and well organized multilayer films. In this work, the new nanotexturized LbL SiO2 surface acts as antibacterial agent. The coating is composed of tetraorthosilicate matrix functionalized with perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane and its fabrication was performed by the sol-gel technique using a dip coating process using the LPG as substrate. This technique allows to fabricate sensitive films in a fast and simple way compared to other overlay fabrication techniques. The fabricated sensor was tested in a programmable temperature and climatic chamber. Relative humidity (RH) was varied in range from 20%RH to 80%RH at room temperature. The coating is composed of poly(acrylic acid), and its fabrication was performed by the electrospinning technique using an optical fiber core as substrate. This technique allows the fabrication of sensitive films with high surface area in a fast and simple way compared to other overlay fabrication techniques. The sensor was tested in a programmable temperature and humidity climatic chamber. Relative Humidity (RH) was varied in the range from 20%RH to 80%RH at room temperature. Although several papers deal with this topic, there are uncertainties and there is no conclusive outcome to their performance compared to Si-x. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the state of the art on this topic providing experimental data of degradation and performance of several commercially available TFSC generators (CdTe, CIGS, a-Si, a Si/µSi) and a conventional Si x. The paper describes the PV plant configuration and its SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), the measured variables and the main functionalities of the software. The first group has to program the dispatch of the electric system and the second one needs to plan their energy commercialization schedule up front. Therefore, after analyzing the existing commercial services of PV production forecast, it has been identified the potential to improve the models used to calculate the AC power output from irradiance and ambient temperature forecasts. Then, in this paper, a parametric model is proposed in order to improve the forecast performance. This model provides the AC power at the output of the PV plan using as input variables predicted ambient temperature and predicted global horizontal irradiance, both obtained from open sources. It has been evaluated and validated using historical production data of a fixed generator (2,24kWp) and a large PV power plant (45MWp) and historical forecast data from the open source Meteogalicia In addition, a toolbox to implement this parametric methodology has been built upon the Matlab environment. Indium tin oxide (ITO) coatings deposited on side-polished D-shaped optical fibers are used as LMR supporting coatings. The aptamer was immobilized on the ITO film using the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) nano-assembly process. The interrogation of the sensing head is carried out by monitoring the Fast Fourier Transform phase variations of the FP interference frequency. This method is low-sensitive to signal amplitude variations and also avoids the necessity of tracking the evolution of peaks and valleys in the spectrum. The sensor is operated within a wide humidity range (20%-90% relative humidity) with a maximum sensitivity achieved of 0.14rad/%. Electrical microgrids allow higher renewable energy integration in the grid, achieving a cost decrease and improving the grid quality [1]. These mi- crogrids incorporate renewable generation systems and energy consumers. Moreover, they have storage systems to balance generation and consumption as well as the exchanged power with the main grid. Traditionally, lead-acid batter- ies have been used in microgrids. However, these batteries have some drawbacks, being the most important its poor performance in partial state of charge, which is critical for a microgrid. A suitable option for the storage system is hy- drogen technology. These systems have high energy density, which makes the storage system able to assume seasonal variability of renewable resources. This paper proposes a sizing methodology for storage systems based on hydrogen for grid-tied electrical microgrids. The attained temperature resolution has been as low as ± 2pm even when a commercial FBG with a sensitivity of 10 pm/°C was used. Thus, a fivefold improvement in the temperature sensor resolution can be achieved when compared to a simple FBG interrogation scheme. In addition to this, the measuring range could be selected only by changing the frequency modulation of the fiber ring laser. Thanks to ZigBee, RFID or WiFi networks the precise location of humans or animals as well as some biological parameters can be known in real-time. However, since wireless sensors must be attached to biological tissues and they are highly dispersive, propagation of electromagnetic waves must be studied to deploy an efficient and well-working network. The main goal of this work is to study the influence of wireless channel limitations in the operation of a specific pet monitoring system, validated at physical channel as well as at functional level. In this sense, radio wave propagation produced by ZigBee devices operating at the ISM 2.4 GHz band is studied through an in-house developed 3D Ray Launching simulation tool, in order to analyze coverage/capacity relations for the optimal system selection as well as deployment strategy in terms of number of transceivers and location. Furthermore, a simplified dog model is developed for simulation code, considering not only its morphology but also its dielectric properties. Relevant wireless channel information such as power distribution, power delay profile and delay spread graphs are obtained providing an extensive wireless channel analysis. A functional dog monitoring system is presented, operating over the implemented ZigBee network and providing real time information to Android based devices. Batteries of stationary systems barely have long resting periods when the cumulative errors can be reset. These special requirements make a robust and accurate SoC estimation algorithm necessary. A real stationary system including an experimental microgrid with renewable energy generation, home consumption and a 5.3 kWh Li-ion storage system is analyzed in this paper. Three representative SoC monitoring algorithms are applied and compared in terms of accuracy and robustness to battery aging and current measurement offset. A multisampled measurement and filtering strategy is proposed to stabilize the system based on the capacitor voltage derivative active damping, overcoming its limitations for low switching power converters. The effects of the delays on the stability of the active damping strategy would be analysed. Lasing modes of fiber ring lasers can be reduced by properly locating a saturable absorber that narrows the spectral width of the FBG that selects the lasing wavelength. Employing commercial Er-doped fiber, different configurations have been evaluated, reaching the SLM regime on a ring cavity of several meters. Thus, the achieved strain response of the whole sensor behaves at its mirror FBG, exhibiting linear response to strain.Publication Open Access Multi-criteria optimization for fleet size with environmental aspects(Elsevier, 2017) Sawik, Bartosz; Faulín Fajardo, Javier; Pérez Bernabeu, Elena; Institute of Smart Cities - ISCThis research concerns multi-criteria vehicle routing problems. Mathematical models are formulated with mixed-integer programming. We consider maximization of capacity of truck vs. minimization of utilization of fuel, carbon emission and production of noise. The problems deal with green logistics for routes crossing the Western Pyrenees in Navarre, Basque Country and La Rioja, Spain.We consider heterogeneous fleet of trucks. Different types of trucks have not only different capacities, but also require different amounts of fuel for operations. Consequently, the amount of carbon emission and noise vary as well. Companies planningdelivery routes must consider the trade-off between the financial and environmental aspects of transportation. Efficiency of delivery routes is impacted by truck size and the possibility of dividing long delivery routes into smaller ones. The results of computational experiments modeled after real data from a Spanish food distribution company are reported. Computational results based on formulated optimization models show some balance between fleet size, truck types, utilization of fuel, carbon emission and production of noise. As a result, the company could consider a mixture of trucks sizes and divided routes for smaller trucks. Analyses of obtained results could help logistics managers lead the initiative in environmental conservation by saving fuel and consequently minimizing pollution.
