Using CORPS-BFN to feed multibeam antenna systems
(2007) Betancourt Quiñones, Diego; Río Bocio, Carlos del; Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica; Ingeniaritza Elektrikoa eta Elektronikoa
In this paper, a simple example of application of the CORPS-BFN concept has been presented. A multibeam antenna system is seen as a small part of the human eye, and therefore, improving the similarity of the whole system with the human eye, the main features of the system could be also improved.

This paper present an application of the Coherently Radiating Periodic Structures - CORPS on the design of a Beam Forming Network -BFN. The Named CORPS-BFN is a novel feeding network with special behaviour characteristics that allows several improvements compared with classical feeding networks, such as, the reduction of necessary electronic to control a phased array and the possibility to have several beams very close to each other. In this paper, an analytical comparison of CORPS-BFN with both a Horn Antenna Array and a uniformly field distribution antenna will be analyzed. This study shows how applying this technology to a Multibeam antenna system the area necessary to radiate 7 independent beams can be drastically reduced.

Simplifying the feeding network for multi-beam circular antenna arrays by using corps
(EMW Publishing, 2011) Panduro, Marco A.; Río Bocio, Carlos del; Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica; Ingeniaritza Elektrikoa eta Elektronikoa
An innovative way to analyze the design of beam-forming networks (BFN) for scannable multi-beam circular antenna arrays using the CORPS (Coherently Radiating Periodic Structures) concept is introduced. This design of CORPS-BFN considers the optimization of the complex inputs of the feeding network by using the Differential Evolution (DE) method. Simulation results for different configurations of CORPS-BFN for a scannable circular array are presented. The results shown in this paper illustrate certain interesting characteristics in the behavior of the array factor for the scannable circular array. The most significant aspect that is unique to this proposal is the simplification of the feeding network based on CORPS.
