    In this work, the behaviour of several modulation schemes used in 3GPP R8 or Long Term Evolution (LTE) Systems is analyzed. In order to increase the capacity of future mobile networks, high order modulation schemes like 64-QAM are envisaged, which have more stringent Signal-to-Noise restrictions. System simulation results for various modulation schemes regarding Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) values and constellation behaviour are obtained, showing dependence of quality degradation with bit rate, interference ratio and relative constellation position of the symbols. These results, related to constellation behaviour, can aid in the future design of high data rate mobility systems based on LTE.

    Power-efficient current-mode analog circuits for highly integrated ultra low power wireless transceivers

    In this thesis, current-mode low-voltage and low-power techniques have been applied to implement novel analog circuits for zero-IF receiver backend design, focusing on amplification, filtering and detection stages. The structure of the thesis follows a bottom-up scheme: basic techniques at device level for low voltage low power operation are proposed in the first place, followed by novel circuit topologies at cell level, and finally the achievement of new designs at system level. At device level the main contribution of this work is the employment of Floating-Gate (FG) and Quasi-Floating-Gate (QFG) transistors in order to reduce the power consumption. New current-mode basic topologies are proposed at cell level: current mirrors and current conveyors. Different topologies for low-power or high performance operation are shown, being these circuits the base for the system level designs. At system level, novel current-mode amplification, filtering and detection stages using the former mentioned basic cells are proposed. The presented current-mode filter makes use of companding techniques to achieve high dynamic range and very low power consumption with for a very wide tuning range. The amplification stage avoids gain bandwidth product achieving a constant bandwidth for different gain configurations using a non-linear active feedback network, which also makes possible to tune the bandwidth. Finally, the proposed current zero-crossing detector represents a very power efficient mixed signal detector for phase modulations. All these designs contribute to the design of very low power compact Zero-IF wireless receivers. The proposed circuits have been fabricated using a 0.5μm double-poly n-well CMOS technology, and the corresponding measurement results are provided and analyzed to validate their operation. On top of that, theoretical analysis has been done to fully explore the potential of the resulting circuits and systems in the scenario of low-power low-voltage applications.

    Introducción al concepto de derivada y sus aplicaciones en matemáticas de 1º de bachillerato nocturno de ciencias

    Este Trabajo Fin de Máster tiene como objetivo estudiar la introducción al concepto de derivada y sus aplicaciones en matemáticas de 1º de bachillerato nocturno. El trabajo se estructura en dos partes. En la primera parte se realiza un estudio longitudinal del currículo y de los libros de texto de ESO y Bachillerato con relación al tema indicado. En la segunda parte se propone un proceso de estudio sobre la introducción del concepto de derivada y sus aplicaciones que se ha puesto en marcha en un aula de matemáticas de 1º de Bachillerato nocturno del el IES Navarro Villoslada en el marco del Practicum II del Máster. Los resultados extraídos de esta experimentación se fundamentan tanto en la experiencia docente como en un cuestionario construido para evaluar la misma, teniendo en cuenta asimismo las restricciones institucionales. El trabajo concluye con una síntesis, unas conclusiones y unas cuestiones abiertas.

    Low-power class-AB CMOS voltage feedback current operational amplifier with tunable gain and bandwidth

    A CMOS class AB variable gain Voltage Feedback Current Operational Amplifier (VFCOA) is presented. The implementation is based on class AB second generation current conveyors and exploits an electronically tunable transistorized feedback network. The circuit combines high linearity, low power consumption and variable gain range from 0 to 24 dB with nearly constant bandwidth, tunable from 1 to 3 MHz. A prototype has been fabricated in a 0.5-um technology and occupies a total area of 0.127 mm2. The VFCOA operates using a 3.3-V supply with static power consumption of 280.5 uW. Measurements for maximum gain configuration show a dynamic range (1% THD@300kHz) of 87.5 dB and a THD lower than -40dB for an output current 23 times the bias current.

    Evalución de dosimetría de campos electromagnéticos en el entorno interior doméstico

    In this work, the evaluation of radiofrequency exposure in a domestic environment is analyzed. 3D raytracing simulation results are compared with dossimetry measurement results in a probe household in a dense urban area in Madrid. The results reveal that a variety of electromagnetic components are present in the household, from mobile communication systems, TV, radio as well as WLAN signals. The results aim to gain insight in the observation and prediction of regulatory compliance as well as in the assessment of possible risk.
