Pirineo navarro próximos a Aspurz y Garde.

In the following undergraduate thesis, the effects of manipulation of nutrient inputs into
the forest ecosystem, the specific site of tree development, and soil depth, have been
evaluated on two functional traits (specific length (cm/g) and specific area (cm 2/g)) of
Scots pine fine roots (Pinus sylvestris) in two Navarrese Pyrenean forests close to Aspurz
and Garde. Since both functional features behave as good indicators of the plasticity of
the fine roots, these have been analysed with the aim of deepening the understanding of
the functioning of the forest, in particular, how it might respond to global change. The
effects were studied after obtaining the values of the functional features of each sample,
collected in May 2018, using WinRHIZO version Pro 2019a (Régent Instruments Inc.,
2019).
It was found that the fine roots of Scots pine are little variable depending on the factors
studied since the only factor that significantly influenced the four response variables
studied was the site. Nutrient management showed no effect and depth only interacted
with the site factor generating significant differences in the specific area of the fine roots
of transport. It would be interesting to study non-morphological traits to confirm or rule
out the possibility that responses to the effects of the factors were manifested in the
variation of the trait in question rather than morphologically. Conducting these studies
from 2020 would corroborate that the negligible effect of nutrient management is due to
the short time elapsed between application and sample extraction. [--]
