Resumen
En este artículo se presentan y comentan las referencias
que dos viajeros hispanos –el judío Benjamín
de Tudela y el musulmán granadino Abu Hamid–
hicieron de un ave mítica que pensaron que
tenía un origen chino. Este animal imaginario recibe
varios nombres como simurg, grifo, roc... hasta
que entra a formar parte del imaginario occidental
a través de los bestiarios medievales cristianos.

En este artículo se presentan y comentan las referencias

made by two Spanish travellers –Benjamínde
Tudela, jewish, and Abu-Hamid, a muslim
from Gramada– of a mythical bird which was
thought to have a Chinese origin. This imaginary
