Este período histórico tiene una homogeneidad política y educativa. Son los años centrales del franquismo y, lo que hoy denominamos Educación Infantil estuvo regulada por la Ley de Instrucción Primaria de 1945, sin que en ningún momento constituyera un objetivo político. Pamplona, con un importante déficit de puestos escolares al iniciar el período, experimentó durante esos años un considerable desarrollo urbano. No eran años de planificación urbanística, y edificios y barrios se llenaban de niños antes que llegaran las dotaciones escolares. La primera demanda eran las plazas de educación infantil y vamos a ver, barrio a barrio, cómo padres, maestros, ayuntamiento y autoridades ministeriales responden a esa necesidad.This paper aims at contributing to the knowledge of the historic development of Childhood Education in Pamplona from 1940 to 1965. This historic period has a political and educational homogeneity. These are the central years of Franco’s regime and what we now call Childhood Education was regulated by the Law of Primary Education of 1945, and it never had a political goal. Pamplona, with an important shortfall of school places at the beginning of the period, during those years went through an important urban development. Those were not years of town planning, and buildings and neighbourhoods got crowded with children before the school facilities were built.
