Se ha utilizado el análisis narrativo (concretamente el modelo de los actantes) para examinar dentro de una muestra de episodios a los personajes principales, y de este modo detectar cómo se manifiestan las tramas discursivas sobre el género en este producto audiovisual. El objetivo de esta investigación consiste en identificar hasta qué punto se reproduce y reafirma un discurso normativo sobre el género, o si por el contrario dicho discurso se subvierte.This paper identifies how gender identities are represented in the fictional television series Friends as an object study of interest in the field of Sociology and with the aim of supplying the absence of academic work of this kind. Narrative analysis has been used (specifically the actantial model) to examine the main characters in a sample of episodes and to detect how the discourse about gender manifests itself in this audiovisual product.
