Para ello se utilizarán los trabajos ya elaborados por la historiografía, prestando especial atención a las palabras precisas utilizadas en cada ocasión que se concedía o recaudaba un impuesto. En esta centuria se produjo un cambio cualitativo de la máxima importancia en el sistema fi scal navarro, y sus consecuencias trascienden el mero recuento de las crecientes cantidades recaudadas por la monarquía. Aquí pretendemos descubrir algunas de esas consecuencias, quizás las menos evidentes, pero que suponen un cambio profundo en las estructuras sociales y de poder del reino de Navarra. En especial, interesa conocer cómo se produce el tránsito desde la concesión y recaudación de impuestos que afectaban a un solo estamento social, hacia una fiscalidad general basada en el papel gestor de las comunidades locales o Concejos.This study sets out to analyse the vocabulary used in the documents related to the demands for taxes made by the Kings of Navarre throughout the 14th century, in order to study the evolution of the tax system of the kingdom. To do so, previous studies were consulted, paying particular attention to the exact words used on each occasion that a tax was granted or collected. A highly important qualitative change in the taxation system of Navarre took place in that century, and its consequences transcend a mere inventory of the increasing sums of money collected by the monarchy. We set out to reveal some of these consequences –perhaps the least obvious ones– that represent a major change in the social structures and the power of the monarchy in Navarre. In particular, it is of interest to see the transition from the granting and collecting of taxes that affected a single social class to general taxation based on the administrative role of the local municipal councils or concejos (villages that have autonomy within municipal councils).application/pdfspa© CSIC.
