Here, it is shown that the progress made in the transfer of this technology to planar waveguides (PWs) with different sensing applications such as environmental sensors and biosensors. In addition, the inherent advantages in terms of robustness, simplicity, and easiness to generate novel complex structures are discussed.application/pdfeng© 2023 IEEE.
