Pese a ello, en las últimas décadas el país se ha encontrado en la encrucijada de seguir manteniendo su sistema de justicia social afrontando los envites del neoliberalismo y las deficiencias económicas derivadas del mismo, facilitando por lo tanto el afianzamiento del nuevo modelo económico-laboral, el Cuentapropismo. Tanto las políticas sociales como el Trabajo social han debido de adecuarse a la nueva situación para poder seguir dando cobertura a los colectivos especialmente vulnerables. Las mujeres cubanas, que desde el inicio de la Revolución fueron sujetos de pleno derecho, están viendo cómo a través de este sector emergente pueden mejorar considerablemente su calidad de vida. No obstante, ser mujer cuentapropista conlleva afrontar ciertas ambivalencias que se manifiestan del mismo modo que en el resto de sociedades patriarcales.To speak about Cuba is to speak of Revolution, of socialism and therefore of state control of the economy. Despite it, in recent decades the country has found itself at the crossroads of continuing to maintain its social justice system by facing the challenges of neoliberalism and the economic deficiencies derived from it, thus facilitating the consolidation of the new economic-labour model, the Self-employment. Both social policies and Social Work have had to adapt to the new situation in order to continue giving coverage to especially vulnerable groups. Cuban women, who since the beginning of the Revolution were subjects of full right, are seeing how through this emerging sector, they can considerably improve their quality of life.
