Se presta atención a las polémicas ligadas a la gestión pública de dicha memoria tratando de identificar sus principales desafíos y atendiendo a las tensiones sociales y políticas que emergen al vincularse con el propósito de reparar a las víctimas. Para ello, se atenderá primero al olvido como forma de injusticia hacia las víctimas. Después, se reflexionará sobre la 'batalla por el relato', expresión con la que se vienen identificando las polémicas derivadas de las políticas de memoria institucionales, y que nos permite recalar en las conexiones entre memoria e historia y en la centralidad de las interpretaciones y del sentido. Por último, se apuntará hacia los límites y las potencialidade de la memoria para comprender el presente sin eludir la cuestión central de la responsabilidad sobre las acciones como requisito para aspirar a alguna forma de justicia.This paper deals with the process of collective memory reconstruction linked to ETA's violence. It pays attention to the controversies connected to the public management of such memory, trying to identify its main challenges and looking at the political and social tension that emerge when reconciled with the purpose of victim reparation. To this end, it will first address oblivion as a form of injustice towards victims. It will then reflect on the 'battle for the story', an expression that is being used when identifying the controversies caused by institutional memory policies and that, in addition, will allow us to land in the connections between memory and history, as well as in the centrality of interpretations and sense.
