Ciencias cognitivas: un desafío de nuestros días en el ambito de las ciencias sociales

Abstract

El presente trabajo entra en un campo tradicionalmente cultivado por la filosofía. Introducimos como brillante expositor de esta tradición a Ernst Cassirer y su particular aportación del sistema simbólico. El vocabulario cognitivo se muda hacia la perspectiva de una ciencia empírica bajo la iniciativa de Herbert Simon y sus ciencias de lo artificial, a las cuales encontramos muy próximas al universo simbólico de Cassirer. Se van delineando unas ciencias cognitivas en los contactos mutuos de un ramillete de ciencias sociales en las que van dejando sus huellas investigadores de las últimas décadas: Jerome Bruner, Roger Brown, George A. Miller. Merced al soporte financiero de las fundaciones las ciencias cognitivas han desembocado en programas docentes a través de prestigiosas universidades del mundo.

The present work goes into the traditional philosophical field, the knowledge theory. A brilliant exposer of this tradition, Ernst Cassirer, and his personal contribution introducing the active role of symbolic system is presented. The cognitive vocabulary is changing towards a new empirical science’s perspective. One of the active behavioral science promoter such as Herbert Simon and his Science of the Artificial is kept in memory because of its analogy to Cassirer’s position. Building cognitive sciences is acomplished through the several social sciences contacts performing a real interdisciplinary research. The researchers such as Jerome Bruner, Roger Brown and George A. Miller and the presence of Foundations supporting finances all of them are carefully reported. Finally the cognitive sciences come into the teaching programs across the numerous and prestigious universities in the world.
