El papel de enfermería en los centros, servicios y unidades de referencia de fibrosis quística

Abstract

La fibrosis quística es una enfermedad genética autosómica recesiva relacionada con una elevada mortalidad y disminución de la esperanza de vida. La atención de estos pacientes es llevada a cabo por los Centros, Servicios y Unidades de Referencia. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es conocer las funciones de enfermería en dichos centros y para ello se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema. Los resultados indican que las principales funciones de enfermería en los CSUR se centran en la coordinación entre los diferentes niveles asistenciales, participación en los momentos clave de la vida del paciente, valoración de la adherencia al tratamiento, educación para pacientes y cuidadores y formación e investigación sobre la enfermedad. Enfermería actuará como cuidadora, consejera y confidente del paciente garantizándole una atención óptima para satisfacer sus necesidades individuales.

Cystic fibrosis is an autosomal recessive genetic disease associated with high mortality and reduced life expectancy. The care of these patients is conducted by the Centres, Services and Units Reference. The main objective of this paper is to get acquainted with the functions conveyed by nursing in those centers. In order to reach this aim, has been carried out a literature review. The results indicate that the principle functions of nursing in CSUR focus on the coordination between different levels of care, involvement in the key moments of the patients’ lives, the assessment of adherence to treatment, patients and caregivers’ education and training and research about on this disease. Nursing acts as carer and counselor as well as taking the role of the patient’s confidant, guaranteeing optimal care with the ultimate goal of meeting to meet the individual needs of each patient.
