Optimization of a production and assembly process

Abstract

The aim of this project is the resolution of a specific problem that usually arises in some manufacturing companies within their production processes. The lack of an appropriate procedure to follow with regard to allocating and matching parts occasionally causes an inefficient forethought in the purchase of such parts, affecting the production process and its e!ciency. Most of the times this also means a greater economic cost than the strictly necessary one. What is sought, therefore, is the development of a procedure to solve such problems. The emphasis is to be placed on the following aspects of the project: • development of a mathematical procedure to solve the problems explained above in a theoretical way • implementation of that process for the resolution of the problem in a practical way • results obtained by the implementation The results obtained show that the existing problem can be solved in a accurate and efficient manner and that the company can benefit from the implementation of the procedure developed.
