Characterization of two different motes (TelosB and Zolertia Z1) running OpenWSN as firmware. The parameters obtained are: Packet Lost Rate (PLR): percentual value of the number of packets lost during the transmission; Latency: the amount of time a packet needs to reach the destination, once it has been sent. All the results and tests are comparable between the two platforms, in order to see the strong and weak points of each one. The memory starts with a theorical content about the communication protocols used for the tests. Then there is a description of the hardware and software Telos used for the thesis and finally, all the tests are shown, explaining how they have been conducted, which results have been obtained and a final conclusion.
