tenemos próxima a nuestros centros educativos sea potenciada.

The new generation is increasingly distanced from the environment. Excessive use of new
technologies separated them from greatly enjoying the environment. Another influential
factor is the detachment that occurs in the new generation before the rural environment and
everything that integrates it. As a direct consequence adolescents do not understand the
ecosystems that surround them and they are not aware of the species living in them. In order
to corroborate this issue, a test was carried out in ninety-two students during January and
February in the I.E.S Mendillorri (Navarra). The test included fifteen pictures of common birds
that are observed in the environment close to the educational centre, and fifteen Pokémon
pictures. This allows to evaluate if the students have a greater knowledge of the real or virtual
biodiversity. Results have shown that on average students recognize 5.4 bird species and they
identify 7.4 species of Pokémon. As a consequence of these results, the master thesis
presented here has two objectives to develop. On the one hand, the theme is analyzed along
the courses and subjects, examining the form which the biodiversity is taught in a way that
makes it easier for adolescents to know the species around them. The main misconceptions on
biodiversity and species are also shown. On the other hand, there are several activities that
teachers can develop in their classrooms. Some of these activities have been carried out by
other teachers obtaining positive results, offering students more knowledge of the biodiversity
of their environment. In addition the development of these activities include the improvement
of the comprehension of the scientific knowledge and the development of the different
educative competences.
Therefore, this project not only analyzes a problem detected in the new generation, but also
offers a new vision on the wealth that we have around our educational centre and the form to
teach about this. Ultimately, it encourages students in different ways to recognize the
exuberant environments around them. [--]
