The objective of this study is to monitor the natural variation in the response to glyphosate of various populations of weeds in maize not previously exposed to this herbicide, prior to the extensive use of the herbicide. This study will make possible to know the response of these species to glyphosate and to predict future changes in their application through appropriate methods and instruments as established by current regulations. For the establishment of the baseline, seeds from distant populations of weeds have been collected from the provinces with greater cultivated areas of maize from Castilla y León. Dose-response studies have been carried out and ED50 values have been calculated to establish the range of sensitivity of each species. These data will serve as a basis for comparison to detect possible variations in response to glyphosate. [--]
