Segmentación automática del músculo psoas utilizando Supervised Descent Method sobre imágenes DIXON

Abstract

La posibilidad de ver el interior de los pacientes sin necesidad de abrirlos ha permitido facilitar el diagnóstico de las enfermedades y lesiones. Esto puede conseguirse con técnicas de imagen como pueden ser ecografía, rayos X, TC y RM entre otras. Actualmente, muchos de los diagnósticos utilizan imágenes médicas y los profesionales tienen que trabajar sobre ellas de manera manual. El objetivo que buscamos en este trabajo es facilitar y agilizar la tarea de estos profesionales dotándoles de una herramienta que segmenta automáticamente los músculos psoas de imágenes axiales de estudios DIXON de resonancia magnética. Esta herramienta devuelve valores objetivos que pueden ser de utilidad en el diagnóstico para el usuario.

The possibility of seeing the insides of patients without the need of opening them has abled an easier diagnostic of diseases and injuries. This can be achieved with image techniques such as echography, X rays, CT and MR among others. Nowadays, many diagnoses use medical images and the professionals have to work on them manually. The goal we look for in this work is to ease and speed up this professionals work by giving them a tool that segments the psoas muscles from axial images from magnetic resonance DIXON studies automatically. This tool returns objective values that can be useful for the user in the diagnosis.
