La siniestralidad en menores de 18 años en el sector agrario en España

Abstract

Desde la LPRL, los accidentes laborales han disminuido hasta alcanzar su mínimo en 2013. Sin embargo, este descenso no ha sido igual en todos los sectores ni en todas las edades. En este estudio se aborda la siniestralidad en menores de edad del sector agrario español, basándose en datos recogidos de los medios de comunicación en la UPNA, del 2004 al 2022, y en el MITES, 2009 al 2022. En todos los casos se observa una mayor incidencia en los hombres. Los accidentes recogidos por la UPNA son casi todos mortales y de los del MITES, leves. Según los datos de la UPNA, la mayor incidencia en menores de 16 años se produjo en el periodo 2006, en los meses de abril, los lunes y las tardes. Las principales causas fueron caídas, aplastamientos y atropellos. Los tractores estuvieron involucrados en un 73,24% de los casos. En el grupo de 16 y 17 años, 2010 fue el año de mayor siniestralidad, entre los meses de mayo y agosto, los domingos y durante las tardes. En un 57,6% de los casos intervino el tractor. En cuanto a los datos del MITES, la mayor siniestralidad se dio en 2009, en los meses de enero y diciembre, los lunes y por las mañanas. Los accidentes más comunes fueron golpes contra objetos inmóviles. El estudio reafirma la alta siniestralidad en este sector y destaca la necesidad de políticas que mejoren las condiciones laborales, haciendo hincapié en la formación y concienciación de los jóvenes.

Since the LPRL (Spanish acronym for the Spanish Law on Occupational Risk Prevention and Safety), occupational accidents have decreased until reaching their minimum in 2013. However, this decrease has not been uniform across all sectors or age groups. This study addresses the incidence of accidents involving minors in the Spanish agricultural sector, based on data collected from media at UPNA (Public University of Navarre) from 2004 to 2022, and from MITES (Ministry of Labor and Social Economy) from 2009 to 2022. In all cases, a higher incidence is observed among males. The accidents reported by UPNA are mostly fatal, whereas those from MITES are classified as mild. According to UPNA’s data, the highest incidence among minors under 16 years old occurred in the year 2006, during the months of April, on Mondays, and in the evenings. The main causes were falls, crush injuries, and collisions. Tractors were involved in 73.24% of the cases. In the group of 16 and 17 years old, the year 2010 had the highest incidence of accidents, between the months of May and August, on Sundays, and during the evenings. Tractors were involved in 57.6% of the cases. Regarding MITES’s data, the highest incidence of accidents was in 2009, during the months of January and December, on Mondays, and in the mornings. The most common accidents were collisions with stationary objects. The study reaffirms the high incidence of accidents in this sector and highlights the need for policies that improve working conditions, with an emphasis on training and raising awareness among young individuals.
