sanitarias, realizar compras, ejercicio…

According to the most likely population projections conducted by The Statistical
Institute of Navarre, in 2022 the 20% of the residents of Navarre will be older than 64
years old, and the 7%, older than 80 years old.
The program “Introduction to ICT (Information and Communications Technology) to
the elderly in Navarre, promoting an active and healthy ageing” has been created to
cover the need of encouraging residents of Navarre to have the best quality of life and
functional capacity when getting older, in order to keep the elderly active, selfsufficient and independent for a longer time. New technologies could be a good ally to
cover this necessity; however, it is essential to break the technological barrier between
ICT and the elderly through the introduction of programs into their daily lives and
society, with the aim of bringing technology closer and improving their quality of life.
This program is focused on the population of Castejón (Navarre), targeting citizens
older than 65 years old in particular.
The aim of this program is to incorporate ICT into elderly people’s lives, based on their
individual needs in the context of an active and healthy ageing.
The main objectives of the program are:
• To take up physical exercise.
• To motivate people to keep active at home.
• To provide elderly people with knowledge and resources related to ICT so as to
encourage self-management and prevention of illnesses.
• To give old people tools to manage their medical procedures on their own.
• To improve the elderly quality of life.
• To break digital barriers in older adults.
With the purpose of fulfilling these objectives, a series of activities have been
proposed, integrating physical activity carried out by the Vivifrail program and walks
around the area, as well as ICT lessons. This program will be three months long,
beginning the activities in March 2022 and finishing in May 2022.
The inclusion of physical activity and ICT resources into the participants’ lives looks for
the creation of routines through the use of these tools with the aim of making easier
the management of daily processes, like administrative tasks, medical procedures,
online shopping and keeping a healthy lifestyle.
Participants will be supported by different professionals during the whole process,
both during the Vivifrail programs and walks, and during the ICT lessons.
Every participant will be provided with a Tablet Bleta, adapted to old adults, with the
idea of using it during the activities. Participants will be encouraged to practice at
home with the purpose of incorporating what is learnt during each session into their
daily lives.
In the end, the indicators proposed at the beginning of the program will be evaluated
in order to assess the program and, if necessary, suggest improvements for future
editions. [--]
