En este trabajo se señala la importancia de la educación artística desde las primeras
etapas, y se hace hincapié en las funciones que cumple en cuanto a mejoramiento de
la expresión, desarrollo cognitivo, conciencia multicultural y crecimiento personal. Por otro lado, se ofrece un breve análisis del currículum de Educación Infantil, que refleja
el poco peso que tiene el arte en él en comparación con otras materias.
Básicamente es un intento de reflejar cómo se abordan las artes visuales en la
Educación infantil, apoyándome para el análisis en lo observado en varios centros
educativos. A partir de este análisis se plantea la necesidad de repensar muchas de las
prácticas educativas que se vienen ofreciendo a los niños y niñas. Para ello se
describen otros modelos alternativos para acercar el arte y la cultura visual al ámbito
educativo. De alguna manera, mediante este trabajo expreso mi manera entender la
educación y la infancia, fruto de todos estos años de estudios, y del conocimiento de
teorías e ideas de grandes profesionales que han investigado sobre el tema en

In this paper I am trying to highlight the importance of an education in the Arts from
the very early stages of a child´s development. I will be making an emphasis in the art
education´s role in improving children´s expression, cognitive development,
multicultural awareness and personal growth. On the other hand, I will be analyzing
the children´s education curriculum to identify the little weight the arts have in
relation to other subjects.
Basically, I am attempting to reflect how the visual arts education is addressed
nowadays in our Children´s Education System. In order to do so, I carried out my
research in a few primary schools. After my research and analysis I observed there was a need to rethink our established
educational practices. Thereafter, I decided to offer alternative models to bring arts
and the visual culture closer to the educational field.
In a way, you will find out throughout this paper my views on children´s education as a
result of all these years of study and getting in contact with the theories and ideas of
the experts and researchers of the educational field. [--]
