Vestigios de un reino perdido: los documentos del reino de Navarra conservados en los Archivos Departamentales de los Pirineos Atlánticos

Abstract

A partir de los cincuenta regestos de documentos existentes en el castillo de Pau que el inventario del siglo XVI recoge bajo el epígrafe «Navarre», se pretende averiguar determinadas cuestiones. ¿Se podrían identificar como los «documentos de la huida» de los monarcas Albret ante la inminente llegada de las tropas castellanas a Navarra? El estudio comparado de esta selección con los documentos actualmente existentes en los archivos de Pau (ADPA) y Pamplona (AGN) pretende dibujar no sólo el contexto en el que se realizó esta selección, sino, sobre todo, las circunstancias que condicionaron la transferencia de documentos desde Navarra a Pau. Quién, cuándo y por qué son las preguntas que se propone responder a través del análisis de cada uno de los asientos que recopila este inventario del siglo XVI, así como de las elocuentes ausencias de otros documentos.

From the fifty summaries of existing documents in Pau castle, which the 16th century inventory gathers under the epigraph «Navarre», the authors intend to ascertain certain matters. Could they be identified as the documents of the Albret monarchs’ flight in the face of the imminent arrival of the Castilian troops? The comparative study of this selection with the currently existing documents at the archives in Pau (ADPA) and in Pamplona (AGN) tries to illustrate not only the context in which this selection was carried out but, above all, the circumstances that conditioned the documents transfer from Navarre to Pau. Who, when and why are the questions set to be answered through the analysis of each of the entries compiled in this 16th century inventory, as well as the eloquent absences of other documents.
