This study presents a critical analysis of two textbook's units of the English subject. The books are used in IES Barañain in Navarre, Spain and in many more centres of the region as Noain High School or Carmelitas. The critical analysis is on the basis of ethnocentric bias-free perspective, so the student is able to understand the complex sociocultural context in which the English language is inserted. Given that a language cannot be detached from its culture, or the culture from its language, the point of departure of this study is to detect when English is linked to British or USA cultures and overshadows, scorns or focusses the stereotypes of other English-speaking cultures also linked to this language.
