Proyecto de fortalecimiento de la atención de partos en los Centros de Salud Tipo C de Primer Nivel de Atención del Ministerio de Salud Pública del Ecuador

Abstract

Maternal mortality is one of the most important health indicators in developing countries. The challenge of reducing the maternal mortality ratio in Ecuador has required the strengthening of health services, especially those closest to the population, which are the First Level Care Centers. Since 2012, the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador has inaugurated 17 Type C Health Centers, whose strength is the care of childbirth and 24-hour emergency care. However, in spite of the great investment made in the construction of Type C Health Centers, the number of childbirth projected for each one of them has not reached the established target and the maternal deaths continue to appear. This program proposes to implement activities for the recruitment of pregnant women, care before, during and after childbirth, which aim to improve maternal health in 4 districts of Ecuador where Type C Health Centers have been inaugurated (San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas, Latacunga, Riobamba) and optimize the health resources of each.
