This paper examines the economic and institutional drivers of entrepreneurship in a panel of 91 countries over the period 2000-2020. Using a dataset for the World Bank and World Developmenti Indicators, it estimates the effects of various microeconomic and institutional factors on two measures of entrepreneurship: new busines density and the proportion of new companies over total companies. The results suggest that access to finance and economic development are positively associated with entrepreneurship.
