Publication Open Access El anidamiento institucional y su dinámica histórica en comunidades rurales complejas. Dos estudios de caso (Navarra, siglos XIV-XX)(Sociedad Española de Historia Agraria, 2013) Lana Berasain, José Miguel; Laborda Pemán, Miguel; Economía; EkonomiaEntre los célebres principios de diseño institucional enunciados por Elinor Ostrom en 1990 ocupa un lugar destacado, en tanto que cierra y subsume los anteriores, el conocido como “nesting principle”. No es difícil reconocer en este principio numerosos casos de comunidades rurales históricas que se articulaban a diferentes niveles, con o sin una jerarquización expresa. Tras una revisión de la literatura en torno a este problema se plantea el estudio de dos casos concretos ubicados en Navarra pero con diferencias constitucionales entre sí: el valle pirenaico de Roncal, marcado por la centralidad de la trashumancia ganadera, y los cinco valles que circundan la Sierra de Lokiz, un bloque de 25 aldeas que compartían la propiedad de un amplio territorio intersticial. Nuestro objetivo consiste, en primer lugar, en identificar y clasificar las formas de anidamiento, ubicando los casos estudiados en esa tipología. En segundo lugar, se trata de contribuir a desentrañar la lógica de estos sistemas policéntricos, sopesando distintas hipótesis y valorando el papel del conflicto en su surgimiento y evolución.Publication Open Access From privatisation to governed nature. Old and new approaches to rural commons in Spain(Studienverlag, 2016) Lana Berasain, José Miguel; Economía; EkonomiaRecent decades have witnessed a shift in the studies on Spanish rural commons, in line with the changes in the international literature as a whole. The focus in the 1970s was on the land privatization process referred to as disentailment (Desamortización), being considered one of the essential dimensions of the transition to capitalism. The recent revival of interest in rural commons has focused less on privatization than on the real functioning of the commons and the social relations articulated around them. A further focus of interest is the interaction between rural society and the State, mainly through the study of forestry policy and its effects on different regions. A third field of interest is the emergence of conflicts around rural commons; not only those of a distributive nature but also environmental and political ones. Accordingly, these new approaches go beyond the old image of a fatal destiny in order to profoundly analyze the environmental and social interactions of rural commons dynamics.
