| dc.description.abstract | En la presente tesis doctoral se aborda el impacto y la recepción del Concilio Ecuménico Vaticano II en Navarra, desde que el papa Juan XXIII lo anunciase el 25 de enero de 1959 hasta el final del pontificado del arzobispo Enrique Delgado Gómez. La primera parte de la investigación comienza con un análisis crítico del estado de la cuestión y de las fuentes accesibles al personal investigador, y se plantean las claves interpretativas que sustentan la investigación. Asimismo, enmarcamos esta investigación en las discusiones y debates historiográficos en torno a la recepción del Concilio E. Vaticano II, específicamente desde la perspectiva de la Iglesia particular local o diocesana. En los capítulos primero y segundo se presenta la evolución histórica de la Iglesia católica como institución transnacional y la Iglesia diocesana en Navarra, respectivamente, desde los inicios de la edad contemporánea hasta el anuncio del Concilio en 1959. El objetivo que se persigue es proporcionar la situación de la Iglesia preconciliar y dar elementos de juicio para determinar las rupturas y las continuidades tras el acontecimiento conciliar, así como ofrecer criterios comparativos que ayuden a determinar el impacto y el proceso de recepción conciliar en un espacio diocesano concreto. En la segunda parte de la investigación se procede al análisis de las figuras sujeto y objeto de la recepción conciliar en el marco de la Iglesia particular local o diocesana, evidenciando el carácter vivo y no lineal del proceso, así como los límites, las contradicciones y los diferentes ritmos o velocidades en el proceso de recepción conciliar. Se presenta la figura del episcopado y sus realizaciones o la figura unipersonal como cabeza y pastor de la Iglesia local a través del análisis del pontificado del primer arzobispo de la diócesis de Pamplona y administrador apostólico de la diócesis de Tudela. Transversalmente, se presenta la figura de los ministros o presbíteros, o la figura de algunos, a través del análisis del clero diocesano. Para terminar, someramente la figura del laicado, pueblo de Dios o la figura de todas/os. Ad intra, el estudio sistemático de cada una de ellas pone de manifiesto la ausencia de homogeneidad a la hora de interpretar el significado del acontecimiento conciliar en la vida de la Iglesia y revela las tensiones y conflictos inherentes entre los distintos actores intraeclesiales en el proceso de recepción e implementación de la letra y el espíritu del Concilio en las diócesis navarras. Pero también permite analizar su comportamiento ad extra y sus relaciones con el mundo a través de sus formas de presencia pública y de las relaciones entre la Iglesia diocesana, el régimen franquista y la sociedad civil. La investigación finaliza planteando las principales conclusiones del estudio. En suma, el análisis de las figuras eclesiales protagonistas del proceso de recepción conciliar y sus realizaciones, enmarcado en un espacio diocesano concreto. Se establece la Iglesia local en Navarra como sujeto y objeto de estudio a la hora de valorar el impacto de dicho proceso y las relaciones entre religión, fe, política y modernidad en un periodo cronológico determinado por las enormes transformaciones socio-económicas y culturales junto con la ausencia de libertades políticas y derechos civiles. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | This doctoral thesis examines the impact and reception of the Second Vatican Council in Navarre, from the announcement by Pope John XXIII on 25 January 1959 to the end of the pontificate of Archbishop Enrique Delgado Gómez. The first part of the research begins with a critical analysis of the state of the question and the sources available to researchers, presenting the interpretative keys that underpin the study. It also situates this investigation within the historiographical debates surrounding the reception of Vatican II, specifically from the perspective of the local or diocesan Church. Chapters One and Two offer an examination of the historical evolution of the Catholic Church as a transnational institution and the diocesan Church in Navarre, respectively, from the early modern period to the announcement of the Council in 1959. The aim is to provide an overview of the pre-conciliar Church and offer insights for evaluating the ruptures and continuities following the conciliar event, as well as to establish comparative criteria to assess the impact and reception of the Council within a specific diocesan context. The second part of the research presents an analysis of the figures who were both subjects and objects of the conciliar reception within the local or diocesan Church, emphasising the dynamic and non-linear nature of the process, as well as its limitations, contradictions, and varying paces. The figure of the episcopate and its achievements, as well as that of the individual leader as the head and pastor of the local Church, is presented through an analysis of the pontificate of the first Archbishop of the Diocese of Pamplona and the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Tudela. Transversally, the figure of the clergy, or presbyters, is also examined, particularly through the analysis of certain members of the diocesan clergy. Finally, the figure of the laity, or the People of God, as a collective entity, is briefly addressed. Ad intra, the systematic study of each of these figures reveals the lack of homogeneity in interpreting the significance of the conciliar event in the life of the Church and exposes the tensions and conflicts inherent among the different intra-ecclesial actors in the process of receiving and implementing both the letter and the spirit of the Council in the dioceses of Navarre. It also allows an analysis of their external behaviour ad extra and their relations with the world, through their forms of public presence and the relationships between the diocesan Church, the Francoist regime, and civil society. The research concludes by presenting the main findings of the study. In summary, the analysis of the ecclesial figures central to the conciliar reception process and their achievements, framed within a specific diocesan context, positions the local Church in Navarre as both the subject and object of the study, providing a basis for assessing the impact of this process. It also highlights the interplay between religion, faith, politics, and modernity during a period marked by significant socio-economic and cultural transformations, alongside the absence of political freedoms and civil rights. | en |
