Abstract

This project arises from the fact that nowadays infants who travel by plane do it on the lap of the adults using a two-point security belt that turns out to be quite inappropriate for them. There exist studies that demonstrate that this type of belt can cause serious abdominal and column injuries being able to cause the death of the passenger in an extreme situation. In addition this restraint system does not protect the head of the infant for what there is also risk of suffering neck injuries. For these reasons this project has been realized in order to increase the safety of the infants designing a new restraint device that increases the safety of infants who travel on board commercial transport aircraft. For the design of the device there has been used the software SolidWorks. This software is a very used tool nowadays in the design by computer. With the design of the device, which will be explained later in this document, and after the analyses realized on the same one to verify its efficiency, it is possible to conclude that the aim of increasing the security of the infants who travel by plane has been obtained.
