Publication Open Access Social networking sites and youth transition: the use of Facebook and personal well-being of social work young graduates(Frontiers Media, 2020) Castillo de Mesa, Joaquín; Gómez Jacinto, Luis; López Peláez, Antonio; Erro Garcés, Amaya; Gestión de Empresas; Enpresen KudeaketaResearch on youth transitions, and the well-being of young people, has to take into consideration the digital context in which they are immersed. Digital interaction of young people increase year by year, social networking sites play a key role in their personal and professional relationships, and a very high percentage of jobs require digital skills. According to Eurostat (2019), participating on social networking sites (one of the most common online activities in the EU-28), is growing every year [more than half (56%) of individuals aged 16–74 used the internet for social networking sites], and this percentage increases among the younger generations. In this article, we present the results of our research on the digital skills and well-being of young people on Facebook, based on a survey with a sample of 126 young people graduated from the University of Málaga (School of Social Work) (Spain). Based on certain scales, the level of digital skills that students have on Facebook was measured, considering strategic aspects for information search, level of use and presence of Facebook in life, maintenance of relations and tolerance to diversity. Variables of psychosocial well-being were also measured (social capital, self-esteem, life satisfaction, and personal well-being). Variables of digital skills on Facebook were subsequently related to well-being variables. Results show that certain digital skills relate to the well-being of young people. In this sense, we deem it crucial to develop education policies that could provide young graduates with general digital skills to be used on social networking sites. Publication Open Access Do better workplace environmental conditions improve job satisfaction?(Elsevier, 2019) Erro Garcés, Amaya; Ferreira, Susana; Gestión de Empresas; Enpresen KudeaketaUsing data from the Sixth European Working Conditions Survey collected in 2015, estimates of the contribution of workplace environmental factors to the job satisfaction of about 44,000 Europeans from 35 countries are presented. Workplace environmental conditions are shown to play an important role in explaining job satisfaction, comparable to contract conditions such as pay increases and contract duration. Interestingly, the results are not driven by the perception of health or safety risks associated with worse environmental conditions.Publication Open Access The role of human resource management practices on the results of digitalisation: from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0(Emerald, 2023) Erro Garcés, Amaya; Aramendia Muneta, María Elena; Gestión de Empresas; Enpresen KudeaketaPurpose: This article aims to analyse the impact of data analytics and robots on firms' performance across Europe. This paper presents three cases in which a main character drives a 'cluster of value': Father Arizmendiarrieta, Mr Huarte and Mr Pérez 'Peridis'. Findings show the relevance of emotions, the role of teams and experts that recognize innovations, the relevance of stakeholder wealth and the importance of linking day-to-day challenges to social entrepreneurship, because creativity is closely related to everyday concerns. By doing so, the research analyzes the factors that explain employers’ and employees’ perceptions of home TW and the symmetry of their impact on its acceptance and rejection. Design/methodology/approach. The analysis is done over the survey “Trends in the digital society during SARS-COV-2 crisis in Spain” by the Spanish “Centro de Investigaciones Sociol ogicas.” The explanatory variables were selected and classified using the well-known taxonomy of Baruch and Nicholson (i.e. individual factors, family/home, organizational and job-related). Findings. The global judgment of HTW is positive, but factors such as gender, age, children in care or being an employer nuance that perception. While some factors, such as the attitude of employees toward information communication technologies (ICTs), perceived productivity or the distance from home to work, have a significant link with both positive and negative perceptions of HTW, other factors can only explain either positive or negative perceptions. Likewise, the authors observed that being female and having children on care had a detrimental influence on opinions about HTW. Practical implications – A clearer regulation of TW is needed to prevent imbalances in rights and obligations between companies and employees. The authors also highlight the potentially favorable effects of telecommuting on mitigating depopulation in rural areas. Originality/value. The authors have also measured not only the significance of assessed factors on the overall judgment of HTW for firms and workers but also whether these factors impact acceptance and resistance attitudes toward TW symmetrically.Publication Open Access Open social innovation: an approach to public organizations(IGI Global, 2019) Erro Garcés, Amaya; Aramendia Muneta, María Elena; Gestión de Empresas; Enpresen Kudeaketa; Institute for Advanced Research in Business and Economics - INARBE
