Publication: Narrativas sexistas y hostilidad en foros de prensa digital: análisis en diarios de ámbito local

| dc.description.abstract | El presente artículo presenta un análisis con perspectiva de género de la participación del público en foros digitales de periódicos a partir de noticias relacionadas con mujeres y/o feminismo. Los objetivos de la investigación buscaban descubrir si existen mensajes hostiles y, en su caso, las fórmulas con las que se legitiman. El trabajo de campo utilizó cuatro diarios publicados en la Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco. El incremento de la capacidad participativa de las audiencias ha transformado las experiencias; en este contexto, este artículo se aproxima al activismo que emplea tecnologías comunicativas para disputar la hegemonía a través de la cual sus participantes proyectan sus códigos y valores en torno a un conflicto. Hay que destacar que se ha descubierto una continuidad con el machismo precedente, pero a través de nuevas fórmulas. Los hallazgos revelan la emergencia de un neomachismo que discute los avances en igualdad desde posiciones supuestamente igualitarias al tiempo que cuestiona a las propias mujeres mediante estrategias como el déficit de reconocimiento y el sexismo ambivalente. El estudio pone de manifiesto que los espacios de participación online reproducen las estructuras de poder de género tradicional: los medios digitales no desafían al patriarcado, excepto si son moderados por un medio que haya asumido un compromiso real con la perspectiva de género, como es el caso de alguno de los analizados. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | With a gender perspective, this paper offers an analysis of the readers’ participation in digital newspaper forums related to news about women and/or feminism. The aim of our research is to find out whether hostile messages are present and, if that is the case, which formulas are used to legitimize it. The corpus is based on four newspapers published in the Basque Country. The increase in the participatory capacity of the reading public has transformed the experience. In this context, this paper approaches the activism that uses communicative technologies to make possible the hegemony dispute through which young activists project their codes and values around conflicts. Results. We can highlight the fact that traditional male chauvinism seems to have continuity today, but under new forms. The findings reveal the emergence of a neo-sexism that challenges equality from allegedly egalitarian standpoints. At the same time, it questions women through strategies such as lack of knowledgment or ambivalent sexism. Conclusions and discussion. The study shows that online participation spaces reproduce the traditional gender structures: the digital media do not challenge the patriarchy, except when they are managed by a company that has assumed a real commitment to the gender perspective, as is the case of some of the media analyzed here. | en |
