Abstract

This project will show the preparation and characterization of Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite (AlMMC) with electroless metallized reinforcing components. The metal matrix is aluminium alloy (AlSi9Cu3) turnings preliminary Ni-P and Ni-Cu-P coated at the same time as the reinforcing phase thereafter mixed and sintered together. Different types of non-metallic reinforcement and un-reinforcement phases are used to create the sintered composites with aluminium powder, silicon carbide microparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). A comparative analysis of the morphology, hardness and the elemental composition of the obtained composite materials were presented; also tribological research was performed.
