Alternativas al populismo punitivo en España. Análisis de propuestas políticas

España cuenta con una de las tasas de criminalidad más bajas de Europa, sin embargo, posee uno de los sistemas penales más duros de las democracias occidentales. Después de explicar qué son las políticas criminales y ubicarlas dentro del contexto español, se examinará si Podemos o Ciudadanos, comúnmente llamados los partidos del cambio, ofrecen una alternativa al rígido punitivismo que tanto el PP como el PSOE llevan practicando desde hace casi 20 años. La hipótesis que se plantea en este estudio es que no existe un partido político en España que ofrezca una alternativa al populismo punitivo, y se comprobará a través del análisis de los programas electorales que los cuatro partidos presentaron para las elecciones generales de 2015 y 2016.

Spain has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe, nevertheless it has one of the harshest penal systems in Western democracies. After explaining what these criminal policies are and placing them within a Spanish context, it will be examined whether Podemos or Ciudadanos, commonly called the parties of change, offer an alternative to the harsh punitivism that both PP and PSOE have practiced for almost 20 years. The hypothesis that arises in this study is that there is no political party in Spain that offers an alternative to penal populism and will be verified through the analysis of the election manifesto that the four parties presented for the general elections of 2015 and 2016.
