Rendimiento académico y educación intercultural

Los principales objetivos de este trabajo son tres, primero mostrar las posibles diferencias que hay en el rendimiento académico de estudiantes navarros en base al origen nacional y al sexo. Segundo, comprobar si estas diferencias se deben al factor socioeconómico, y tercero, mostrar estrategias y acciones a favor de una educación inclusiva e intercultural en la sociedad y en la escuela. Los resultados a partir de un caso empírico muestran que las diferencias en el rendimiento académico son mínimas y no responden únicamente al factor socioeconómico. Con la ayuda del libro “Diversidad cultural y educación” de Xavier Besalú y de fuentes como el “Informe Delors” o el “Index for Inclusión”, se ha comprobado que la educación intercultural e inclusiva es necesaria y posible para una integración efectiva de las culturas y para crear ciudadanos críticos, responsables y respetuosos con la diversidad, y garantes de la igualdad y la justicia.

Three main objectives have been set out in this paper, firstly to compare possible differences in academic performance between students of Navarre, according to national origin, and sex. Secondly, to check whether the cause of these differences is socio-economic, and thirdly, to share strategies and actions which promote inclusive and intercultural education, within society and at school. The results from an empirical case show that differences in academic performance are minimal and do not respond exclusively to the socio-economic factor. With the help of Xavier Besalú's book "Cultural Diversity and Education" and several other sources such as the "Delors report" or the "Index for Inclusion", it was found that intercultural and inclusive education is necessary and possible for an effective integration of cultures and to create critical, responsible and respectful citizens, with diversity and guarantee of equality, and justice.
