Genealogía de la geografía feminista en España

En este artículo se traza la genealogía de los primeros años de la geografía femi-nista en España. Se lleva a cabo una reconstrucción conceptual de cómo y porqué se ubican las geógrafas españolas de esta primera etapa en la tradición teórica fe-minista. Para ello, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica que abarca las décadas de los años setenta, ochenta y noventa del siglo XX. Se analiza de quién heredan las geógrafas feministas los objetos de estudio y los instrumentos del saber que les permiten poder indagar y explicar los fenómenos que observan en el espacio social. Se hace ver de dónde provienen los elementos de interpretación que emplearon inicialmente para construir conocimiento sobre la condición subordinada de las mujeres y la organización espacial de la desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres. Esta investigación permite detectar cómo resuena en las geógrafas españolas el marco teórico del feminismo en su larga tradición ilustrada.

In this paper I draw a genealogy of the first years of feminist geography in Spain. I carry out a conceptual reconstruction of how and why contemporary Spanish female geographers of this first period are located within the theoretical feminist tradition. To do so, I conducted a bibliographic review covering the period from 1970s to 1990s of the twentieth century. Feminist geographic objects of study and knowledge tools allowed researchers to make inquiries and explanations of the phenomena observed in the social space. These objects and tools are analyzed to get to know who they were inherited from. Thus, this work reveals the origins of the particular feminist approach applied by those geographers. It signifies how that approach initially enabled them to build knowledge about the subordinate condi-tion of women and the spatial organization of inequities among men and women. This research shows how Spanish female geographers engaged with Enlightenment feminism.
